President's Letter

April 10, 2007

 Dear TVHA Members-

Welcome and/or Welcome Back! First, as president I’d like to thank you for supporting Tri-Valley Horseman’s Association, Inc.

TVHA has another exciting year planned with many shows on our schedule and a few that have changed dates, so please reference the insert and the club website at www.trivalleyhorseman.com for details. In addition to that, we’ve had some new elections to the TVHA board of directors, including Cyndy Bofelos, Eunice Hartling, and the return of Jan Hinman. I’m thrilled to have them onboard. Running TVHA is much easier with active members and a proactive board of directors.

For those of you that do not know, the board of directors for TVHA are faced with making a lot of decisions for the club throughout the year.We try to do our best to serve the membership, but would like as much input from you all as possible. Feel free to reach out to us and attend our meetings in Oneonta. The meeting dates are posted on our website and you’re all welcome.

One discussion that was talked about at length and the board wished for me to point out in this letter was that we DID NOT elect to split out a GREEN PERFORMANCE division. There are two reasons we did not do such. First, the record keeping it would entail is hard to justify for a club our size. Second, we are very unsure of the implications it would have at fairs, “Would a fair allow a seasoned huntseat horse on the flat to enter into green over fences classes?” For these reasons there was no addition of green performance.

Remember, we can always use help with TVHA events, whether it be fund raising or our horse show. No horse experience is necessary (believe me there are plenty of jobs for anyone willing to lend a hand). So, please mark your calendars for July 28-30th for our annual club show at the Walton Fairgrounds and feel free to contact myself or any board member with questions. I look forward to seeing you and hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Heather Frost, TVHA President, 585-315-2397 or 607-962-2922

TVHA Friends and Members,

Hi there! Spring has certainly sprung and it’s good thing because I know I was sick of the cold weather and so were my horses. So, it’s time to shed the hair and the winter blankets and jump into show season, and JUMP is just what TVHA is doing as we have our first pointed show being held this Saturday, May 7th at Woodland Star QH in Guilford.

Two reminders, there are changes to our show calendar: 1- Members received an insert with their calendars that we’ll be pointing 5 GYMKHANA shows with CNYTPA in Unadilla this year. Please check the website or look at the insert for details. 2- Afton Fair will be holding DRIVING at their show.

Now, things are in full swing for the planning of the TVHA Annual Show at the Walton Fairgrounds. The show will be JULY 28th, 29th and 30th. We’ll be offering ALL seats. Our judges will be JOHN SULLIVAN from MA for DRESSAGE, HUNTSEAT, and DRIVING. KAREN PUTMAN will be the judge for WESTERN with a trail judge to be named.

We can always use donations and/or volunteers. We can use money, as well as items for our silent auction to be held in the fall. Anyone is asked to volunteer to help out with running the show. We currently need RIBBON RUNNERS, RING STEWARDS, OFFICE HELP and GATE PEOPLE. We won’t turn anyone away. Many hands make light work.

The show will also feature PRISM PRIDE TACK SHOP, TWEEDIE TREATS- with a bigger and better trailer, and MARK PEDERSON- Equine Photographer. Mark was recently featured on HORSE POWER for his work at the MEDAL McCLAY RIDERS.

We also will be doing another PRINT RAFFLE this year. Tickets will be sold at TVHA sponsored events and by Board members all year with the drawing being held at our Annual Banquet in November. The featured limited edition print is “SEABISCUIT” painted by Maryland artist Michael Geraghty. The print is featured on his website at www.ipaintchampions.com. The edition we will be raffling is DOUBLE-MATTED and FRAMED in OAK. Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5.

That’s it for now. Please get your memberships in if you haven’t already. Additional forms are available on our NEW WEBSITE at www.trivalleyhorseman.com. Show season is HERE! I hope you all are doing well and I’ll see you soon.

Sincerely,
Heather Frost
